On my HTC Touch Pro, Chronobis worked fine with the standard Windows Mobile Professional 6.1 stock ROM. However, it has not worked with 2 different Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional ROMs I've tried out. The calendar and task syncing works fine, but the Email sync does not. It seems like the stock email client in WM 6.5 is not able to talk to localhost:5674. I've tried 127.0.0.1:5674 but that doesn't work.

The error message in the email client is:
"Messages cannot be downloaded to your mobile device. Make sure you are connected and that your email account settings are correct. Then, try to download messages again."

Chronobis log file:
"Accepted POP3 connection...[11:37:35]
RECV: bunch of ascii unreadable characters
POP3 connection closed...[11:37:35]"

Any ideas?

I too am having trouble getting email to sync. Thank you for this great work-around as my company has blocked ActiveSync for security issues. I have got Chronobis installed on my Verizon HTC Imagio running windows 6.5 and successfully sync'd Calendar, Contacts & Tasks. I can't for the life of me figure out how to get the email to sync and get the same error message "Messages cannot be downloaded to your mobile device. Make sure you are connected and that your email account settings are correct. Then, try to download messages again."

My POP3 Email Account Settings from WM6.5:

Email Address: <my OWA e-mail address>
Your Name: <name>
Account Display Name: <display name>
Incoming mail server: localhost:5674
Account type: POP3
User Name: <domain\username> (just like accessing OWA)
Password: <password> (just like accessing OWA)
Outgoing (SMTP) mail server: localhost
<unchecked> : Outgoing server requires authentication
<checked, but grey'd out> : Use the same user name and password for sending e-mail

Advanced Sever Settings:
<unchecked> : Require SSL for Incoming e-mail
<unchecked> : Require SSL for Outgoing e-mail
Network Connection: <The Internet> (3 options on my phone, Verizon Wireless, Work, The Internet)

Automatic Send/Receive: <Every 2 hours>
Download Messages: <All Messages>

Advanced Settings
<checked> : Send/receive when I click Send
<unchecked> : Use automatic send/receive schedule when roaming
When deleting messages: <delete them off the server> (or Keep them on the server?)

Message Format: <HTML>
Message Download Limit: <Entire Message>

Chronobis log file:
[10/16/09 06:48:58] [INFO ] Accepted POP3 Connection...
[10/16/09 06:48:58] [INFO ] RECV: [ [ W WXsR]
